Computers for all grades-Mr. I
Grade 4 completed their dialogue exercises while 5th grade completed all they need for portfolios. The second grade googled images to paste onto their activity books as per Ms May's request.
Kindergarten:
Ms. Syetta-ELA
This week kindergarten read a story about Johnny Appleseed in their reader. They practiced comparing and contrasting the story in their reader to the non-fiction story of Johnny Appleseed that I read aloud to the class. We worked hard on finishing our books about our favorite things and we completed our Spelling Skills book.
Ms. Syetta-Math
This week we learned all about graphing. We practiced recording information onto graphs, reading graphs, and answering questions about graphs. We also finished our Math Textbooks.
Ms. Syetta-Science
We wrote our final observations about our butterflies. We reviewed their life cycle, the importance of letting them go, and we loved watching them get to fly away.
First Grade:
Mrs. Perles-ELA
I can't believe we are so close to the end of this school year. This week we wrote beautiful stories that I hope you will enjoy reading in our very own books.
We had a good reading week full of stories of The Ugly Duckling and the Life of a Duck. We also read The Three Bike riders, a cute story about a day on your bike.
We are reading our last book of the year called Chocolate Fever. The class loves it and can't wait for the next chapter.
Mr. I-Science
We began our unit on the solar system. We studied most of the planets and their position relative to the sun.
Mrs. Shats-Math
This week we continued to master adding and subtracting two digit numbers and solved challenging word problems.
Second Grade:
Ms. May-ELA
This week in 2nd grade the students took their final Spelling/Vocabulary test. They learned about autobiographical writing and will write one to include in their homemade book. They took their Stanford ELA test and continue to finish writing their Author's Tea interpretation. As a special treat, I have invited the 2nd graders to join me in a birthday celebration for my birthday, and those students whose birthdays fall in summer by having a well-deserved class ice party today!

We began our unit on the solar system. We studied most of the planets and their position relative to the sun.

This week we completed Stanford Test and reviewed previously learned material.
Third Grade:
Mrs. K-Judaic Studies
This week we learned and spoke about the holiday of "Shavuot". The students had a chance to ask questions and learn the deeper meaning and significance of this Holiday. Although the Jewish people received the Torah many years ago, it's important for us to feel the excitement and joy as if we have just received it today.
Mr. I-Science
We took an exam on animals/habitats. The results of the exams were not the best however, the class was asked to correct them and sign them. This should be an indication of the efforts toward studying materials for fourth grade.
Mrs. Shats-Math
This week we completed Stanford Test. Calculated and compared area and perimeter of given shapes.
Fourth Grade:
Mrs. K-Judaic Studies
The fourth graders submitted there "yehadut" reports this week. The students were assigned to research a Jewish holiday of their choice that we learned about this year and write an in depth report discussing the origin, traditions, mitzvot... Etc pertaining to the holiday they chose. This week we learned and spoke about the holiday of "Shavuot". The students had a chance to ask questions and learn the deeper meaning and significance of this Holiday. Although the Jewish people received the Torah many years ago, it's important for us to feel the excitement and joy as if we have just received it today.

We are starting our unit on the Solar system and the planets locations relative to the sun. This will conclude our science curriculum for the 2015-2016 year.
Mr. I-Social Studies
We concluded ancient China and took an exam on Monday. We also started Ancient Greece and Alexander the Greats conquests. We will get into ancient Rome next week.
