Mrs. Ivry-Judaic Studies
We are so busy learning and preparing for the upcoming Pesach Holiday. The students are very eager to sing the Ma Nishtana at the Seder table and they can’t wait to finish their personalized Hagadah during the Seder.
This week's Parsha is Parshat Tazria. In this week's Parsha Hashem tells us about the special Mitzva of being careful not to say Lashon Hara! Lashon Hara is when we say something bad about someone else just to make fun or hurt another person. We should only report a bad action that is hurting us or someone else in order to help and protect ourselves and others.
We are now getting ready for our upcoming test next week on Thursday. We must be able to read a page in less than 60 minutes with no mistakes in order to pass to Orange level!!
Kindergarten Parents: If you haven’t done so yet, please send in a plastic folder with 3 prongs in the middle for our Pesach Hagadah. Thank you!

This assignment is a prelude to our soon- to- be Compare and Contrast lesson as it asked the students to explain why it would be better being their animal than another, and how it may be difficult at times to be so.
Lastly, the students finished presenting their first- ever Book Talks. We will be practicing ways to improve upon them for the second, and last Book Talk due in late May. Spelling/ Vocabulary words will resume soon as well!

This week was mainly spent taking the Common Core State Test. The students worked very hard and had a lot to say about it. Prior to testing, the class was given a mystery box activity based on the novel we are reading in class, Fish in a Tree. We had to shake the boxes enough to figure out what was inside. While everyone was thinking one object was a ball, Alan listened closely and figured out that it wasn't rolling smoothly changing his guess to an apple. It was actually a pear! Good going Alan!
